Ms Foo – Level 6

Juggling work and study

Level 6 is the highest grade attainable in the Test of Proficiency in Korean—the only official Korean language examination in the world. It is so challenging that even students living in Korea who practice the language daily find it difficult to achieve.

Yet Ms Foo achieved this highest and most demanding Level 6 in TOPIK without traveling to Korea, studying exclusively through live Zoom sessions with Ms Kim Yeeseul.

Over approximately 1.5 years, Ms Foo balanced her studies at SEOUL Korean with her work commitments, taking occasional term breaks when necessary. Even during this period, she remained dedicated to her studies, diligently following Ms Kim Yeeseul’s lessons and consistently reviewing all assigned materials.

Oceanus – Level 5

Studying TOPIK and A Level together

TOPIK II Level 5 is a highly challenging grade that students struggle to achieve even when studying full-time in Korea. Oceanus faced an additional challenge, as she was simultaneously preparing for both A Levels 2024 and TOPIK II, carrying a heavier study load than typical TOPIK students.

For almost 2 years, Oceanus studied online with Teacher Song at SEOUL Korean, focusing primarily on conversational lessons using the Seoul National University textbook. She decided to take the TOPIK exam just 4 months before the test date.

Given this limited timeframe, developing a strategic approach was crucial. Teacher Song focused intensively on drilling Question 53 of TOPIK II, which follows a fixed writing format. Due to the time constraints, we initially set Level 4 as Oceanus’s target.

The strategy proved highly effective—Oceanus surpassed our expectations by achieving Level 5! This was an exceptional accomplishment, considering she had only 4 months to prepare for TOPIK II while managing her demanding A Level studies.

Oceanus studied up to Seoul National University 3A textbook for her normal lessons. She studied online via live Zoom for both normal and TOPIK II Writing lessons.

Joanne- Level 5

Consistency and persistence

Joanne is a working mother who has been studying Korean with SEOUL Korean for 3 years as a hobby.

Using only Seoul National University textbooks for her online studies, she amazed us by achieving TOPIK Level 5! Studying with Teacher Song via live Zoom, Joanne has maintained perfect attendance and completed nearly all assignments from the Seoul National University Workbook. Her success proves that steady persistence pays off and that age poses no limit to achievement.
